The design for the Winslow hotel features  historical and local artwork to pay homage to the history of the building as well as the current society surrounding it today. Each person who walks through the door will have the opportunity to fully engage in the space, no matter his or her ability. Guests will be pleased to see a variety of textures, music, and interesting art to ensure that they have an experience unlike any other. The calming monolithic blue color scheme throughout the building will be met with a beautiful, bold maroon shade once guests reach the dreamy queen suite. Our focus is to spark conversation between guests and encourage a friendly, welcoming stay in this wonderful historic space. Designing with acoustics in mind is very important in order to promote a positive stay while spending time at the Winslow Hotel. Using selections to support the noise between 30-40 decibels will allow to avoid an unwanted echo (Hume, 2010 p. 72). By selecting lighting that brings comfort to guests, the Winslow Hotel becomes a beautiful and welcoming space. Using different lighting styles such as task lighting, and dimmable lighting helps support the needs of users in the space (Figuerio, 2014). Since the historic background and location of this hotel is so important to the community, artwork and information placed around the hotel will promote conversation and a positive guest experience (Buhring, J. 2019). It is important to include spaces of privacy as well as gathering spaces that promote the guests connecting with the Fargo community and any guests they may bring during their stay. By creating spaces such as the Café and lounge where people can gather, guests are able to enjoy the time they spend at the hotel with others (Martin & Fuentes, Mostafa-Shaalan, & Mellinas, 2021, p. 2).
